Being aware of the types of fees that could be charged can help you prepare for, plan for, or prevent potential fees. For information on how your investments are performing, any associated fees or charges that are collected, you can refer to your December 31 Personal Portfolio Statement (PPS).

Account performance will be provided quarterly in your Personal Portfolio Statement (PPS). You will see your personal rates of return over multiple time periods, and changes in the value of your account both over the past year and since opening the account.

Keep track of your portfolio’s performance

A Trusted Contact Person (or TCP) is someone that may be contacted by your Mutual Fund Representative to help us protect your financial interests. This person should be someone you trust to act in your best interests. A TCP isn’t involved in making financial decisions on your behalf, nor can they transact on your account.

Scotiabank highly recommends appointing a Trusted Contact Person for mutual fund accounts held with Scotia Securities Inc. Individuals will be asked at the time they open their mutual fund account whether they’d like to make such an appointment. You may revoke or change a Trusted Contact Person anytime by contacting your mutual fund representative.

Guaranteed Investment Certificates (GICs) that are scheduled to mature will be displayed on your Personal Portfolio Statement (PPS) under the section Your Maturity Listing.  You may also view maturity dates in online banking and your mobile app. Learn how to renew your GIC online.

On your quarterly Personal Portfolio Statement (PPS), the section identified as Your Summary of Deposit Holding by Issuer shows the investments eligible for the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) insurance.
