Stakeholder Engagement and Memberships

Scotiabank seeks to understand the views of a broad spectrum of stakeholders on CSR through internal and third-party surveys and through direct stakeholder discussions.

We maintain regular contact with a number of key stakeholders - such as government and non-government organizations, consumer advocacy groups, customer focus groups and academics - to get their views on key CSR issues for the financial sector, such as access to banking and environmental issues related to our lending activities.

Gathering feedback on our CSR reporting

Scotiabank invites feedback from internal and external parties on our annual CSR Report so that we can incorporate improvements in the quality and scope of our communications. Learn more

Obtaining feedback on our CSR Report and programs is a key priority for Scotiabank. We regularly solicit feedback from a number of different sources, including Canadian Business for Social Responsibility, the Consumers Council of Canada, the World Wildlife Fund, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, Natural Resources Canada and our own employees.

This feedback is integrated into our reporting and programs where feasible and appropriate, and is an important part of Scotiabank's commitment to continuous improvement in this area. In addition, in 2008, Scotiabank's internal Audit group verified select information contained in the 2007 CSR report, leading to process and content improvement sin the 2008 report.

As part of our commitment to CSR, we are active members of the following organizations:
