Putting banking terms in plain language
Putting banking terms in plain language
The Bank has maintained a long-standing commitment to provide customers with easy-to-understand banking information which they can use to effectively compare and make the right choices for their financial needs. All of our retail products, materials and forms, including mortgage documents, are written in plain language.
We aim to apply these same principles wherever we operate. For example in late 2007, Grupo Scotiabank Mexico earned recognition from CONDUSEF, a public organization created by the Mexican Congress to protect and defend consumer rights and interests when dealing with financial institutions. This council rated Scotiabank's chequing account among the best offered by major financial institutions, in terms of keeping customers well informed. The Bank received a top score of 9.9 (maximum 10) upon review of the clarity, simplicity and completeness of account information provided in contracts, advertising, in branches and online.
At Scotiabank, our core purpose is to be the best at helping customers become financially better off by providing relevant solutions to their unique needs.
We do so by providing our customers with information, advice and tools to identify their financial goals, and a variety of products and services to help them achieve those objectives.
This also means helping educate our customers on financial issues and providing them with information in clear, straight-forward language to help them make informed decisions.
