Information on BC Unclaimed Property Act for residents of British Columbia
In 2000, the government of British Columbia enacted "The British Columbia Unclaimed Property Act" which required Holders (such as Scotia Capital Inc.) of Property (such as securities and cash) to make reasonable efforts to locate clients who have abandoned property that is being held at a Holder, and the Holder can no longer get in touch with the client directly.
Should a claimant wish to investigate whether assets are being held at Scotia Capital in this situation, they may call 1-866-299-7499 for more information.
(Note: The claimant will be asked to undertake certain identification procedures during this process).
