Photographs - The Archives has an extensive and diverse photograph collection that documents the people and places of Scotiabank history. Featured in the collection are branches and personalities from the Bank's history.
Architectural Plans - The Archives also contains an architectural collection dating back to 1884 consisting of plans for new branches and buildings throughout Canada and the world. Architects including John M. Lyle, Darling & Pearson, Bond & Smith, Mathers & Haldenby are featured in this collection.
Montreal Trust - Incorporated in 1889 as the Montreal Safe Company by a number of Montreal business people, Scotiabank purchased Montreal Trust in 1994. A number of notable Canadians were associated with Montreal Trust throughout its history - including Donald Smith (Lord Strathcona) and Sir Hebert Holt. The Bank of New Brunswick - Established in 1820 in Saint John, New Brunswick, The Bank of New Brunswick became the first bank in Canada to operate under a charter. The Bank was sold to The Bank of Nova Scotia in 1913 after its expansion was hindered by difficulties in raising more capital. Included in the Bank of New Brunswick collection are its Annual reports and lists of shareholders. The Bank of Ottawa - Established in 1874 by a group of Ottawa Valley lumber industry pioneers, The Bank of Ottawa dominated the city's banking scene for a number of years. After World War I the Bank reached a point where it required new capital and vigorous expansion to remain competitive and maintain its earnings. This was viewed as too expensive, and The Bank of Ottawa amalgamated with The Bank of Nova in 1919. Through this merger, The Bank of Nova acquired a number of new branches West of the Ottawa Valley.
