Terms and Conditions


"Eligible Account" means any one of the following types of accounts offered by Scotiabank: Basic Banking Account, Powerchequing® Account, Basic Banking Plan, Scotia OneTM Account, Scotia Moneyback® Account, Scotia Value® Account, Student Banking Advantage® Plan, Canadian Accounts under the Scotia Plus® Program for Seniors, Scotia Power Savings Account®, Money Master® Savings Account, Scotia Gain Plan® Investment Savings Account and Daily Interest Savings Account, but excludes Foreign Currency accounts.

"Referee" means an individual who (i) prior to participating in this Program was not a customer of Scotiabank, (ii) is a Canadian landed immigrant or a foreign national (international student or foreign worker) that has been residing in Canada for less than 3 years, (iii) is of the age of majority in the province or territory in which he/she currently resides, (iv) does not reside in the Province of Quebec and (v) is not an employee of The Bank of Nova Scotia, Bensimon Byrne, AIMIA Inc, Berkeley Payment Solutions, (or a person domiciled with such employee, and immediate relative of such employee).

"Scotiabank" means The Bank of Nova Scotia.

Registration

  1. Any individual (a "Referrer") may refer a Referee by registering online at the following URL:[www.scotiabank.com/winnipegairport] (the "registration page"). Both Referrer and Referee must register at the same time at the registration page and provide personal information and agree to these Terms & Conditions.

Referee

  1. To be eligible to qualify for the $50 reward, the Referee must (i) print the completed registration page and bring it, along with the immigration documents listed on the registration page, and personal identification to a Scotiabank branch, and (ii) be one of the first 1,000 Referees to open an Eligible Account between July 15, 2013 and December 31, 2013.
  2. The Eligible Account must be open for at least 30 days and be in good standing at the time Scotiabank attempts to deposit the $50 reward into the Eligible Account. Scotiabank will attempt to make the deposit no later than 90 days after the Eligible Account is opened. For the purposes of this Program, an Eligible Account is not in "good standing" if (i) it has a negative balance exceeding the authorized overdraft limit, (ii) it is closed to service charges or (iii) it has an unauthorized overdraft written off status.
  3. Maximum one $50 reward for each Referee.

Referrer

  1. A Referrer can refer one or more Referees, and is eligible to receive one CAD $50 Scotiabank® Prepaid Reward Visa* Card (the "$50 VISA gift card") for each Referee who qualifies for the $50 reward.
  2. The Referrer will receive the $50 VISA gift card at the address provided to Scotiabank in the registration form. The $50 VISA gift card will be sent to the Referrer at or shortly after the time that the $50 reward is deposited to the Referee's Eligible Account.

General

  1. The Program is non-transferable and cannot be duplicated or combined with any other Scotiabank offer.
  2. Scotiabank may withdraw or change these Terms & Conditions at any time without notice. The decisions of Scotiabank with respect to all aspects of the Program are final and binding on all participants.
  3. The Referee acknowledges, agrees and consents that the Referrer will be made aware of the Referee having opened an account with Scotiabank as a result of the Referrer qualifying for the $50 VISA gift card.
  4. Privacy note: Scotiabank may contact the Referrer and/or the Referee with information about Scotiabank's products and services if such consent is indicated on the registration page. However, the decision to consent or not consent on the registration page will not modify any preferences the individual may have previously communicated to Scotiabank. To modify those preferences, individuals must contact his/her Scotiabank branch or dial 1-800-SCOTIA.
