Consolidated T&Cs (Mastercard, Visa & Amex)
The following definitions apply to these Terms and Conditions:
- “Cardholder” means the primary holder of a Scotiabank retail and/or small business credit card.
- “Cycles” refer to the credit card’s billing cycles.
- “Promotional Period” refers to the period from November 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025.
- “Spend Bonus Period” refers to the first 3 cycles from the account open date during which the customer must meet the Spend Threshold in order to receive the Spend Bonus.
- “Promotion” refers to this promotion and not to any of the Bank’s other promotions or programs.
- “Eligible” refers to any individual qualified to participate in this promotion.
- "First Purchase Bonus” refers to the bonus which a Cardholder receives when the first eligible net purchase is made during the Promotional Period with his/her credit card.
- “Spend Bonus” refers to the bonus which a Cardholder will receive when a predetermined spend threshold is met during the spend bonus period using his/her credit card.
- “Additional Card Bonus” refers to the bonus a Cardholder receives when they have met the criteria of adding one or more supplementary cards to their new card account within spend bonus period.
- “Scotia Points” refers to the rewards accumulated from purchases made using the Scotiabank AERO Platinum Mastercard, which can be exchanged for benefits listed on the Scotia Rewards Platform.
- “Spend Threshold” refers to the minimum amount of money which a Cardholder must spend during the spend bonus period using his/her credit card in order to receive the spend bonus.
- “Introductory Low Rate” refers to the promotional interest rate that is only applicable to new Scotiabank retail credit card accounts as outlined and further defined in these Terms and Conditions.
- “Net Purchases” refers to purchases minus returns / credits and does not include cash advances, balance transfers, credit card cheques, or any fees and/ or finance charges.
- “Annual Percentage Rate (APR)” refers to the annual interest rate applied to the Cardholder’s credit card account where the Cardholder’s account carries a balance.
- “Effective Annual Interest Rate (EAIR)” refers to the annual interest rate that is adjusted for compounding.
- “SelectPayTM” refers to the feature which allows credit card customers to use their existing revolving credit limit to turn eligible purchases (USD $75+ or local currency equivalent) into a short-term installment plan of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. There is a 1% set-up fee for each Installment Plan that is created.
- “Purchase” refers to any retail, internet, phone or mail order purchase, or Point of Sale transaction which the Cardholder makes using his/her credit card and does not include any fees and/ or finance charges.
- “Eligible Purchase” refers to any purchases converted to SelectPay during the Promotional Period and maintained open for at least the minimum installment plan term of 3 months, minus returns/credits, and does not include cash advances, balance transfers, credit card cheques or any fees and/or finance charges.
- “Cashback” refers to the amount which will be credited to the credit card account of all Cardholders who met the spend threshold or who made Eligible Purchases during the Promotional Period.
- “Switch” refers to the process by which a Cardholder changes his/her existing Scotiabank credit card type for another type of credit card of the same grade. For example, switching his/her Mastercard Magna for a Mastercard Gold.
- “Upgrade” refers to the process by which a Cardholder changes his/her existing Scotiabank credit card to a higher-grade credit card. For example, upgrading from a Visa Classic to a Mastercard Aero Platinum.
- "Scotiabank" or “Bank” means Scotiabank & Trust (Cayman) Ltd., Scotiabank Trinidad & Tobago Limited, Scotiabank (Bahamas) Limited, Scotiabank (Barbados) Limited, The Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica Limited, The Bank of Nova Scotia Guyana and Scotiabank (Turks and Caicos) Ltd.
These Terms and Conditions supplement the terms and conditions of your Scotiabank Credit Card Cardholder Agreement (the “Cardholder Agreement”). Capitalised terms used but not defined in these Terms and Conditions shall have the meanings defined and set out in the Cardholder Agreement.
This Promotion is open to legal residents of the Cayman Islands, Trinidad & Tobago, the Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Turks & Caicos who are 18 years of age or older. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the applicable laws of the named country.
In this Promotion, new Scotiabank Cardholders will earn promotional benefits as detailed in the chart below for each country listed above:

Timing of Credit
New Cardholders who qualify for this Promotion will receive the above-mentioned rewards depending on the date when the new account was set up in the Scotiabank system, as follows:
Group #1: For all new accounts booked and shown in the Scotiabank system with an open account date between November 1 and November 30, 2024 inclusive, the Spend Bonus and SelectPay Periods will end on February 28, 2025 and the reward will be credited by April 30, 2025.
Group #2: For all new accounts booked and shown in the Scotiabank system with an open account date between December 1 and December 31, 2024 inclusive, the Spend Bonus and SelectPay Periods will end on March 31, 2025 and the reward will be credited by May 31, 2025.
Group #3: For all new accounts booked and shown in the Scotiabank system with an open account date between January 1 and January 31, 2025 inclusive, the Spend Bonus and SelectPay Periods will end on April 30, 2025 and the reward will be credited by June 30, 2025.
In order to be eligible to receive the above-mentioned promotional benefits, the new Cardholder's credit card must be in good standing and must not have been blocked, frozen, stolen or fraudulently obtained, mislaid, lost or written-off, or delinquent, as of the following dates:
- Group #1: As of April, 30, 2025
- Group #2: As of May 31, 2025
- Group #3: As of June, 30, 2025
Scotiabank staff credit cards are not eligible for these promotional benefits.
The Promotion does not apply to Switches or Upgrades.
- The Bank reserves the right to determine which purchases qualify for this Promotion.
- A Cardholder’s benefit earned through participation in this Promotion will be forfeited in the event that the Cardholder ceases to be a Cardholder at any time during the Promotional Period or card transactions made, during the Promotional Period, are reversed.
- The promotional interest rate offer applicable to this Promotion (“Introductory Low Rate”) is only applicable to new Scotiabank retail credit card accounts and is not valid for existing Scotiabank retail credit card accounts. The new credit card account will receive the Introductory Low Rate on any balances resulting from purchases and cash advances completed from the account open date of the new retail credit card for a period of 6 months expiring on the cycle date (also known as the statement cycle), irrespective of when the transactions occurred. This promotional interest rate offer does not apply to Small Business, Staff, Premium, Black or Corporate new credit card products. Upgrades are also excluded. In case the new retail credit card enjoys this offer of the Introductory Low Rate and the monthly minimum payment is not made by the due date, the new credit card account will lose the Introductory Low-Rate offer and the standard APR will apply.
In all matters relating to this Promotion, the decision of the Bank shall be final and binding in all respects.

Scotiabank has the right to exclude any individual from this Promotion in its absolute discretion without any obligation to provide notice or reason.
Scotiabank reserves the right in its absolute discretion to vary the terms and conditions of this Promotion or change or withdraw this Promotion at any time without giving any reason or notice. In the event of a dispute arising from this Promotion, the Bank’s decision shall be final.
These terms and conditions apply only to this Promotion and do not apply to any of the Bank’s other promotions or programs or any other promotion or program in conjunction with the Bank and any other entity or brand.
