Sarah Milroy is a Toronto-based critic and writer, contributing widely to such publications as the Globe and Mail, Walrus, Canadian Art and Border Crossings. In 1991, she and Michael de Pencier co-founded the Canadian Art Foundation, and she served as the editor and publisher of Canadian Art magazine from 1991 to 1996. From 2001 to 2010, Milroy was the staff critic of the Globe and Mail, covering major exhibitions and artists' projects from all parts of Canada.
Milroy has also contributed essays to many scholarly catalogues, including Winnipeg Now (Winnipeg Art Gallery, 2013), Jack Chambers: Light, Spirit, Time, Place and Life (Art Gallery of Ontario, 2011), Fred Herzog (Douglas & McIntyre, 2011), Tsimshian Treasures: The Remarkable Journey of the Dundas Collection (Donald Ellis, 2007) and Greg Curnoe: Life and Stuff (Art Gallery of Ontario, 2001). She is currently working on the exhibition Painting Canada 2: Emily Carr and the Indigenous Art of Canada's Northwest Coast for the Dulwich Picture Gallery, London, and the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, scheduled to open in London in November, 2014.
