This fall, Académie Ste-Thérèse will celebrate its 40th anniversary. Every year since 1982, students start at the school as tiny preschoolers and stay until they graduate from high school. Académie Ste-Thérèse started with a total of 137 students, all grades combined, and boasts more than 2,100 today, with interest showing no signs of dwindling.

Académie Ste-Thérèse is a private educational institution with two campuses, in Rosemère and Sainte-Thérèse. It has built a reputation through its comprehensive approach to learning, which encourages students to discover their potential every day in various fields, including science, arts and sports. The support and guidance afforded to students from day one until graduation is incredibly important for their development and greatly appreciated by parents and students alike.

Facilities fit for purpose

Académie Ste-Thérèse seeks to develop students’ knowledge, social skills, self-confidence and passion. That is why six program options are offered in elementary school and 16 in high school. From dance to robotics to sports, each student can find something that will speak to their interests. The goal is simple, encouraging each of them to pursue their passions so that they feel like going to school every day. Because the school covers a wide range of interests, it needs a variety of facilities to achieve its goal.

The Académie will launch a major fundraising campaign this fall to help it acquire top tier facilities and equipment. The school would like to provide the community with an auditorium, a double gym, a dance studio and art and robotics rooms with state-of-the-art technology.

The funds raised will ensure students have the best possible environment to help them reach for the top. The money will also allow the Académie to establish an innovative music program and to purchase hundreds of new musical instruments.

The resources will also go toward launching a $100,000 assistance fund to help families who may find themselves in a precarious financial situation while their child is enrolled at the school.

A shared vision

These projects, while exciting and promising, don’t come without their challenges. Building materials being as scarce and expensive as they are right now, the school must rely on its partners to find ways to support its expansion projects, for example. Luckily, the Académie has been able to count on the unwavering support of financial partner Scotiabank at key moments over the years.

“We have been very impressed with Académie Ste-Thérèse’s vision, a vision that we share. Since the beginning of the pandemic, their management has been going above and beyond to support their students and staff. The strength of their team really motivates us to put our own shoulder to the wheel and help them make things happen. We are proud to contribute to their success by ensuring that they can continue to share their educational vision.” -Patrick Caron, Senior Relationship Manager, Scotiabank

Académie Ste-Thérèse’s shared vision brings together its partners, especially its teachers, who make a difference in the daily lives of their students. The pandemic has been a hectic time for the education sector, and the entire staff successfully rose to the challenge by constantly finding new solutions to keep their students engaged.

The strength of this school—developing its students’ interest in multiple areas—is only possible because of its passionate teachers, who are always up to the task.

“We didn’t want to make any compromises. When the pandemic began, we quickly implemented methods so that all of our students could continue to develop intellectually, artistically and physically. The vision that we share means that every teacher did their best to ensure that the Académie’s educational model could weather the storm. Our staff have been incredibly flexible, and our students have been so creative and resilient!” -Martin Landry, Managing Director, Académie Ste-Thérèse

Académie Ste-Thérèse has been working with Scotiabank since 2020. The bank’s advice and flexibility has made it possible for the school to pursue its mission to contribute to student development by fostering their desire to broaden their horizons. Although the education sector was hit hard by the crisis, Académie Ste-Thérèse keeps inspiring its students to excel and to give their best, a strong mantra that reverberates throughout the Académie community.
