In Case of Errors or Questions About Your Monthly Statement
Cardholders
If you think your Cardholder Monthly Statement is wrong, or if you need more information about a transaction on your statement, write, phone or fax us at the Scotiabank Commercial Card Service Centre, P.O. Box 8828, Postal Station “A”, Toronto, Ontario M5W 1P8, phone number 1-888-823-9657, fax number 1-416-701-7022. (Within 10 days of the date indicated on your cardholder monthly statement.) In your correspondence we will require the following information:
- Your name and account number.
- The dollar amount of the suspected error.
- Describe the error and explain, if you can, why you believe there is an error.
If a dispute arises about a transaction for which you used your VISA card, you must first attempt to settle it directly with the merchant or business concerned. You are also responsible for returning defective merchandise and ensuring proper credit is received.
Companies/Corporations
Forward your billing or statement inquiries within 10 days of your monthly statement date to one of the following: by mail to The Bank of Nova Scotia, Transit 05082, 44 King Street West, Toronto, Ontario, M5H 1H1; by phone to your Scotiabank card program manager or by fax to (416) 933-2382, attention Commercial Card Services.
Transaction Date and Posting Date
The date columns shown opposite an item on your statement reflect the respective dates on which the transaction occurred and was posted to your Company’s account. If the transaction date is not available, the posting date will appear in both columns.
Transactions in a Foreign Currency
Transactions in a foreign currency are converted to Canadian or US dollars at the exchange rate in effect as determined by VISA International on the date the item was received and is debited or credited to your Company's account. The rate may be different from the rate in effect on the date the transaction was made. For information purposes, the exchange rate includes an amount equal to 2.50% of the converted amount, which is applied to both debit and credit transactions.
