2010 - Contactless Payments - Scotiabank introduces Visa payWaveā„¢ on select Scotiabank Visa cards. This contactless payment feature is intended to help cardholders save time when paying for smaller value purchases.

A limited roll-out in October 2010 was followed by the national launch in March 2011.

2011 - DundeeWealth - Scotiabank increases its ownership in DundeeWealth to 100%. The Bank also acquires Dynamic Funds and a majority ownership in Aurion Capital through this acquisition.

In 2013 Scotiabank rebrands the DundeeWealth advisory business as HollisWealth Inc. and subsequently sells HollisWealth in 2017.

2011 - Pronto! - Scotiabank acquires Pronto!, Uruguayā€™s third largest consumer finance company, with 600 retail points of sale and 37 branches.

The acquisition represents Scotiabankā€™s re-entry into Uruguay.

2011 - Luxembourg - Scotiabank enters Luxembourg through the acquisition of the Canadian wealth management company, DundeeWealth Inc. which has operations in the country.

Scotiabank no longer operates in Luxembourg.

2011 - Scotiabank Photography Award - Lynne Cohen of Montreal wins the inaugural Scotiabank Photography Award, the largest photography award for Canadian contemporary photographers.

Peer-nominated and peer-reviewed, the Award was launched by Scotiabank in 2010.

2011 - Nuevo Banco Comercial - Scotiabank acquires Nuevo Banco Comercial, Uruguayā€™s fourth largest private bank, with the largest retail banking network in the country.

With this acquisition, Scotiabank becomes the first Canadian bank with a retail presence in Uruguay. In 2014 it begins to operate under the Scotiabank name.

2011 - Money-Back Chequing - Scotiabank launches the Scotia Moneyback Account.

It is Canadaā€™s first chequing account that offers customers one per cent cash back rewards on all point of sale debit purchases.

2011 - Interac Flash

Scotiabank introduces Interac Flash on its SCENE ScotiaCard allowing for contactless debit payments for smaller value purchases.

2011 - Dresdner Bank Brazil - Scotiabank acquires the Dresdner Bank Brasil S.A. ā€“ Banco Multiplo (DBB), headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It operates as a wholesale bank but holds a multiple banking license, enabling it to offer a range of financial services.

The business rebrands as Scotiabank Brasil S.A. Banco Multiplo.

2012 - Banco Colpatria - Scotiabank acquires 51 percent of Banco Colpatria, Colombia's fifth largest financial group and the second largest credit card issuer in the country. It has a network of 175 branches and 308 ATMs.

Scotiabank announces the transaction in October 2011 and finalizes it January 2012.

2012 - Howard Weil Incorporated - Scotiabank acquires Howard Weil Incorporated, a leading U.S.-based energy investment boutique.

It provides equity research, institutional sales and trading, as well as investment banking services.

2012 - ING DIRECT - Scotiabank acquires ING Bank of Canada, a direct banking business launched in 1997.

It continues to operate as a separate and distinct wholly-owned subsidiary. In 2014 it rebrands as Tangerine.
