Canadians spend 10 hours each week on average worrying about their finances, up 25% from a year earlier, a new Scotiabank poll shows.

What’s more, 32% of respondents say they are losing sleep over their financial worries, the online survey revealed.

“More Canadians are being kept up at night with questions like, how they’re going to own a home, will they have enough to pay for their children’s education, and if they’ll have enough for retirement,” said D'Arcy McDonald, Senior Vice President, Deposits, Investments & Payments at Scotiabank.

The online survey was conducted on behalf of Scotiabank by Maru/Blu on Oct. 12 and Oct 13, 2021, among randomly selected Canadian adults who are Maru Voice Canada panelists.
