From December 5th 2016 through to January 13th, 2017, visit one of Scotiabank’s #ChequeInForCharity participating branches in Calgary and discover how easy and convenient mobile cheque deposits and paying bills digitally can be, with the added benefit of supporting Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
A Scotiabank employee will walk you through the simple steps of depositing a $5 pre-printed cheque using the Scotiabank Mobile App on a mobile device. Once deposited, you’ll be shown how to set up a bill payee, in this case the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, and proceed to make a bill payment to the hospital for 50% of the $5 cheque, keeping the other 50% for yourself.
Whether you’re in a rush and you don’t have time to visit a branch or ABM, or you’re curious about how digital banking can help make banking easier, this is a great opportunity to experience real-time banking right in your own hands.
All money raised will be donated to Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation.
Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation serves 95,000 kids annually, and Scotiabank is proud to be able to provide funding for family centred child health programs, specialized life-saving equipment and advanced pediatric research.
Investing in our communities has been a focus for over 180 years. Our goal has always been to help create a better life for people in the communities we serve. Through our community investment strategy, we support organizations that are committed to helping young people reach their full potential.
Any new or existing Scotiabank customer with a chequing or savings account who is interested in learning about mobile cheque deposits or how to make a bill payment digitally can participate.
No, there is no fee to participate in the demonstration. If a customer notices a bank charge has been processed as a result of this one time donation, their local branch can waive the fee.
A tax-deductible receipt will not be provided. Each $2.50 donation is part of an overall commitment Scotiabank has made to contribute $50,000 to Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation through this initiative.
One hundred per cent of the proceeds raised through the #ChequeInForCharity demonstration will be donated to Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
For the duration of the #ChequeInForCharity program, Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation will remain on your bill payee list. After the campaign has ended, Scotiabank will remove it from the bill payee list of customers who participated in the demonstration. If a customer chooses to remove the hospital from their list of bill payees prior to the end of the campaign, they can easily do so through Scotia OnLine or the Scotiabank mobile app.
Yes, if a customer chooses to donate the full amount, $5, they are able to do so.

If a customer decides to make a separate contribution or donate above the bill payment donation amount, they are absolutely encouraged to do so by visiting Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation website to learn how to make an individual donation.
If a customer decides to make a separate contribution or donate above the bill payment donation amount using the newly added payee, due to the nature of the donation they will not receive a tax receipt.
Customers who wish to make a personal donation or a donation on behalf of a loved one, are encouraged to visit Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation website to learn how.
