Important information

As of May 21, 2019, Loyalty services will no longer be available. If you want to continue to store your loyalty cards on your mobile device, you can use Apple PayGoogle Pay, or Samsung Pay. You can also visit www.points.com and log in using the same email address to view your stored loyalty cards and track balances.

Where do I start?

Download the latest version of the Scotiabank Mobile Banking app, and select “Loyalty” from the main menu. Loyalty cards can be added to mobile devices with iOS 7 or higher or Android 4.4+ or higher.

To collect and redeem points, just select the card you want within the app and scan it at the cash register.

What is Loyalty?

Loyalty allows you to store your retail loyalty cards within the Scotiabank Mobile Banking app.

With Loyalty, you don’t need to carry around your plastic retail loyalty cards to collect and redeem points every time you shop. Instead, just add and use your loyalty cards with your phone.

The App will render your loyalty cards digitally and display the balances of all registered cards. You can collect and redeem loyalty points without having to carry physical loyalty program cards simply by displaying the digital cards on your smartphone at the Point of Sale terminal.

There is no cost to use Loyalty.

How do I register for Loyalty?

Loyalty can be used by anyone who has:

  • An iPhone device with OS 7 or higher or an Android device with OS 4.4 or higher.
  • A data plan or access to Wi-Fi

To set up loyalty:

  • Download the latest version of the Scotiabank Mobile Banking app
  • Select “Loyalty” from the global navigation screen and follow the prompts.
  • Scotiabank uses your email address to verify your identity. If your email address is currently registered with Points.com, you will be asked to provide your current Points.com password.
  • If your email address is not registered with Points.com, an account will automatically be generated for you. You will be able to add your cards within the Scotiabank Mobile Banking app.
How long does it take for my card to get updated after registering?

It can take up to 24 hours to process your card registration and update your card.

It can take up to 48 hours before the first points balance will available.

Which retail programs participate in Loyalty?

You can use Loyalty with 18 major Canadian retail loyalty programs.

Participating loyalty merchants include: Avis Preferred, Enterprise Plus, Fairmont President’s Club, HBC Hudson's Bay Rewards, Heathrow Rewards, Hertz Gold Plus Rewards, Le Club Accor hotels, PC Plus Points, Petro-Canada, Plum Rewards (Chapters), Ritz-Carlton, SCENE, Shoppers Optimum program, VIPorter, DSW Rewards (Designer Shoe Warehouse), Outdoor Rewards (Bass Pro), and More Rewards.

Why do I need to enter my Points.com password during registration?

If you already have a Points.com account, you’ll need to enter your Points.com account password to link your account to Scotiabank’s Loyalty service.

When you link your Points.com account with Loyalty, it will automatically add your registered cards to your phone so that you’ll save time and won’t need to repeat the card registration process.

If you forgot your Points.com account password, please reset your password.

Why does my card say “Registered”?

If your card is “Registered”, you’ve successfully registered your card with Loyalty and can view, collect, and redeem your points with your phone.

If, for any reason, the barcode on any of your loyalty cards fails to scan, the loyalty card number can be entered manually.

Why does my card say “Unregistered”?

If your card is “Unregistered”, you can still collect points with your card, but it must be registered with Loyalty before you can redeem or see your points balance.

Please note that some merchants may not honour points you’ve collected without registering your card with Loyalty. We recommend that you register your card and make sure you have a membership account with the merchant.

If, for any reason, the barcode on any of your loyalty cards fails to scan, the loyalty card number can be entered manually instead.

Why does my card say “Pending”?

If your card is “Pending”, your card is pending validation of your card registration information. Please allow up to 2 business days for your card to be processed. You can still collect points with your card, but it must be registered before you can redeem or see your points balance.

If, for any reason, the barcode on any of your loyalty cards fails to scan, the loyalty card number can be entered manually instead.

Why does my card say “Re-enter info”?

If your card says “Re-enter info”, your card registration information is either missing or incorrect. Try adding your information again. You can still collect points with your card, but it must be registered before you can redeem or see your points balance.

If, for any reason, the barcode on any of your loyalty cards fails to scan, the loyalty card number can be entered manually instead.

Please note that some merchants may not honour points you’ve collected without registering your card with Loyalty. We recommend that you register your card and make sure you have a membership account with the merchant.

If you’ve tried re-adding your card several times and it still says “Re-enter info”, you may have entered the password associated with that card incorrectly and it may be locked. In this case, please contact the merchant directly.

How do I opt out of Loyalty?

To opt out of Loyalty, go to Settings > Opt out.

I can’t remember my loyalty card account number/ PIN/ password. What should I do?

If you forgot your retail loyalty card account number, PIN, or password, please visit the merchant’s website directly to recover your account information.

Why do I have to provide my loyalty card account information?

In order to view or redeem your points balance, we need to link your retail loyalty card account information to our app.

Although you can still collect points without registering your card with Loyalty, some merchants may not honour points you’ve collected. We recommend that you register your card with Loyalty and make sure you have a membership account with the merchant to avoid any inconvenience.

How do I update my email address?

Once you sign up for Loyalty with an email address, you cannot update or use another email.

If you wish to change your email address, you must opt out of Loyalty and then sign up again with a new email.

Why is my points balance incorrect?

Your points balance is provided to us by the merchant and their loyalty program.

If your points balance does not reflect any recent transactions you’ve made with your card, your balance may be in the process of being updated. If this isn’t the case, please contact the merchant directly.

What should I do if my loyalty card account number has changed?

When you receive a new loyalty card and account number, please delete your old loyalty card before adding your new card to the app.
