Travelling within Canada
Coverage overview

If you are travelling outside your province or territory of residence but within Canada, you still need travel insurance.

Our Canadian Travel Emergency Medical Single Trip Plan gives you all the coverage of our regular Emergency Medical Single Trip Plan at a 50% savings. Every province has its own Government Health Insurance Plan (GHIP)2 which can have different maximum amounts payable for different medical services. So, if you need emergency medical attention while travelling out-of-province, you will personally have to pay any difference between what your province's GHIP covers and what the destination province charges.

Please refer to the Government of Canada website for their recommendation on this matter: https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/documents/travel-insurance

Top-up your travel insurance
Coverage overview

If you’re extending your trip or your employee health plan doesn’t provide enough coverage, it’s smart to “top up” your travel insurance. Here’s how:

Let’s say you’re insured for a 10-day trip but you’re actually staying for 12 days. You can top up your emergency medical insurance by purchasing two extra days of coverage. Then you’ll have coverage for your whole trip5.

Topping up your emergency medical insurance1 is ideal when:

  • Your current Multi Trip plan doesn’t cover the full length of your trip.
  • You’re already insured through your employee extended health plan or your credit card, but you need a few extra days of coverage5.

Please ensure your current plan allows top ups.

Plus, Emergency Medical Top-Up coverage is available for individuals, couples and families1.
