Most accounts can be easily changed to another account type online. Accounts you can switch from online:

If your account is not this list - not to worry! Simply call us or visit a branch and we’ll be happy to help you make the change.

If the account you'd like to change to is not on this list, or if you need help deciding which account is best for you, call us or visit a branch.

Good news: your account number will stay the same. This means your pre-authorized payments and deposits will not be impacted.

Online: Confirm that your current account and the account you'd like to change to are eligible for online change. Follow the steps below:

1. Log in to Scotia OnLine or Scotia Mobile App
2. Select your account you'd like to change
3. Select “Manage”
4. Select "Change account type"
5. Choose your current account
6. Choose your new account type

Once you confirm your selections, you will receive a reference number.

Phone: Call us at  1-800-4-SCOTIA (1-800-472-6842) if your account is not eligible to switch online or if you need help choosing the account that is right for you!

Branch:  Book an appointment with a Scotiabank advisor if your account is not eligible to switch online or if you need help choosing the account that is right for you!

Once you request the change, you will receive the Disclosure of Interest Rate, Fees and Charges, Terms & Conditions, and other applicable documents in an electronic format.

Your account change will be completed within five business days. 

Note: Your application will be saved for 30 days to your Applications in Progress².
